Here's the response from CEC3 President to PSPED's Oct. 19 letter asking the CEC to address -- and prioritize -- massive school disparities, and to give Community-Controlled Choice meaningful consideration as a solution.
...CEC3's 2017 Zoning Plan will relieve and prevent overcrowding, increase diversity and combat segregation in our schools, and put all District 3 schools in a position to succeed. Our balanced approach is both meaningful and achievable and I stand by it without the slightest equivocation.
While controlled choice does not enjoy a level of support in District 3 that makes further consideration prudent, please note that your advocacy efforts have helped CEC3 focus its efforts on responsible steps to increase the diversity of our school populations. Put plainly, I believe your work has made an indelible mark on CEC3's plan. I hope this feedback is helpful. Thank you.
Joe Fiordaliso
